King Charles III Proclaimed Monarch After Queen Elizabeth II's Passing

Charles Philip Arthur George, born November 14, 1948, is now the reigning monarch of the United Kingdom and the 14 other Commonwealth realms. The coronation ceremony for King Charles III and his wife, Camilla, as King and Queen Consort of the United Kingdom is currently in the planning stages.

Following the passing of Queen Elizabeth II on September 8, 2022, the throne immediately passed to King Charles III without ceremony. As the eldest son of Queen Elizabeth, Charles has been the heir apparent to the British throne since 1952.
